Northumberland Weekly News Brief

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week, here are some examples:

Oct 26:

– Police were called to a Port Hope residence by a landlord who had been experiencing several issues with the former tenants. Officers provided advice, several calls received throughout week at this residence.

– A 54 yr old Ajax man was charged with a Liquor offence after officers located a suspicious vehicle reported on Trottman Rd in Cramahe Twp

– Police are investigating an incident where a dog bit a man in the face in the Bewdley area. Investigation is ongoing

Oct 27:

– A Toronto newspaper delivery person reported ongoing thefts of newspapers in the Brighton area

– Police assisted EMS at a Cramahe Twp residence where a youth had self-harmed. The youth was taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital for treatment to minor injuries and mental health issues

– Police responded to a Brighton apartment building to a report of an intoxicated man. As a result of the investigation, the male was charged with assault and possession of marihuana under 30g. He was held until he was sober then released with an impending court date.

Oct 28:

– A resident on County Rd 18 in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp reported both front and rear licence plates stolen off of his vehicle while parked in his driveway.

– Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Rd 65 near the 7th Line of Port Hope at 5:35pm. A 33 year old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with impaired driving. He was released with an impending court date.

– A Campbellford resident reported the theft of a pumpkin by four youths on Ranney Street North. Officers attended and were unable to locate the youths

Oct 29:

– A Campbellford man contacted police to complain about service at a local business. Officers referred him to the Better Business Bureau as this was not a police matter.

– A daughter requested police attend a Brighton residence to check on the well-being of her mother. Officers found her to be in good health and passed along the message.

– Bailiffs advised police of a repossession (car) at a Percy Twp home in the event of calls from the owner

– Two ATV riders contacted police when they became disoriented in a wooded area near Little Lake in Brighton. Officers on detachment ATV’s located the riders who were uninjured and led back to safety.

Over this four day period, Northumberland OPP also investigated eleven accidental 911 calls, 18 motor vehicle collisions, 32 traffic related complaints and conducted five RIDE programs.
