North Huron ED Experiment Backfires – Commercial and Industrial Values Dropping

North Huron council and staff have now admitted that Industrial and Commercial real estate values are dropping in North Huron. Our failed economic development department cost taxpayers $407,859.52 in 2015. This raised taxes, and scared even more businesses and investors away. The complete opposite of what the department was to accomplish.

So, what have we been getting for the $300,000 – $400,000/year we have been forced to give to connie goodall for “economic development”.

Commercial and Industrial real estate values have dropped. That alone should be enough for everyone to realize this experiment has disastrously backfired and crippled our Community. If that isn’t enough for you realize we aren’t getting value for our $300,000/year, how about we have more vacancies on Josephine street and CAO long admitted this experiment has resulted in no jobs or new businesses.

The only results of our Economic Development Department is a higher tax rate, and BIA’s formed in Wingham and Blyth due to her spectacular failure to produce results. These BIA’s in turn raised taxes on all Commercial and Industrial properties to fund themselves. The Blyth BIA was even going to hire someone because connie goodall failed to help.

Don’t worry, connie goodall will still get a raise and praise from council.
