(CALEDON, ON) – On February 14 2014 at approximately 2:20 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 10, north of Olde Baseline Road in the Town of Caledon. The officer observed a blue Honda Accord travelling northbound on Highway 10 at a high rate of speed and determined that the driver was operating the vehicle at 135 km/hr. in an 80 km/hr. zone.
As a result of the traffic stop, Nirmalan NIDHIYANANDAM, 33, of Lancaster (South Glengarry) was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the stunt driving charge.
The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Caledon on March 24, 2014.
