(CALEDON, ON) – On December 3rd, 2014 at 11:16 am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol in the area of Coleraine Drive and Mayfield Road when they observed a pick-up with an exhaust pipe dragging on the roadway. The officers activated the marked cruiser’s emergency equipment to conduct a vehicle stop and observed the driver acting suspiciously by reaching over the passenger side of the vehicle before finally coming to a stop. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officers learned that he was bound by a Recognizance Order with conditions; to “keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not possess non-prescribed drugs and to carry a copy of his release documents with him at all timesâ€Â. The driver was requested to produce the release documents but was unable to comply. Subsequently, the male was arrested and a search of the motor vehicle uncovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be marihuana. Further, officers located full and empty containers of alcohol which had been recently purchased.
The accused was transported to Detachment and a further search uncovered more illegal substances, suspected to be crystal meth and ecstasy.
In conclusion, Muneet GREWAL, 27, from Brampton was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Substance and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. The driver is further charged with offences under the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario and the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
The male was held in custody until court the following day at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.
