On December 6, 2012 at 6:50am emergency services were notified of a 2-car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Elmira Road North and Speedvale Avenue West.
Two vehicles – a 2010 Kia being operated by a 28 year old Guelph woman and a 2004 Acura SUV being operated by a 40 year old Guelph man were found demolished within the intersection. The force of the impact sent the Acura into a traffic signal pole knocking it across northbound lanes of Elmira Road. The Acura rolled over, coming to rest in the southbound lanes.
Both drivers were taken to Hospital with minor injuries.
The intersection remained closed for approximately two hours as Public Work’s officials worked to restore power to the traffic signals.
Damage to both vehicles and the traffic signal was estimated at over $30,000.
