Motor Vehicle Collision involving Pedestrian

Date: Saturday, April 19, 2014 – 12:00pm
On the 19th of April 2014 at approximately 12pm, a 28 year old female was operating a bicycle travelling eastbound on Dunlop Street. As the bicycle was approaching the intersection of Boys and Dunlop, a truck travelling northbound on Boys approached the stop sign and came to a stop.

The male driver not observing the cyclist, then pulled onto Dunlop Street causing the female cyclist to run into the side of the truck. As a result of the accident the bicycle had extensive damage, the female received minor injuries and was transported to hospital as a precaution.

The 68 year old male driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Start from stopped position not in safety.

Police would like to remind everyone with the nice weather upon us to please use extra caution and watch for pedestrians who may be running, cycling, skateboarding and walking along our city streets.
