Date: Sunday, April 27, 2014 – 1:30pm
On the 27th of April 2014 at approximately 1:30pm, A motor vehicle was travelling eastbound on Mapleview Drive attempting to turn left on Bryne. As the vehicle proceeded to make its left hand turn, two motorcycles travelling west bound on Mapleview entered the intersection.
The one motorcyclist was unable to avoid the vehicle turning and struck the side. The other motorcyclist was able to maneuver the bike but caught the tip of the vehicle causing it to swerve and strike another motor vehicle.
Police responded to the accident with ambulance. Both parties on the motorcycles were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Areas of the roadway were closed for the investigation but have since been re-opened.
An 80 year old Barrie male has since been charged with left turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.
