(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to receive numerous complaints regarding unlocked vehicles being entered overnight and valuables being stolen from the vehicles.
On Saturday, August 17, 2013 members of the OPP Auxiliary unit conducted the Lock It or Lose It program in the Fenelon Falls area. The Auxiliary members checked 46 vehicles and found that 7 of the vehicles were unlocked. Six of those vehicles had valuables in plain sight and one of the vehicles was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that an engaged community is a safe community – lock your vehicles when they are not in use and keep valuables hidden from sight even if the vehicle is locked.
