Jordan YOUNG – 120 in an 80 and Driving Too Slow

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) A Hamilton man was charged with two Highway Traffic Act offences after being stopped twice by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 17, 2013 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 35 near Lifford Road and subsequently stopped the vehicle. The driver, Jordan YOUNG, 28 years of age, of Hamilton, was charged with speeding, 120 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The accused departed the scene and, noting that the officer was travelling behind his vehicle, began to decrease speed to well below the posted speed limit. Mr. YOUNG then repeatedly applied his brakes despite there being no traffic ahead of him. The actions were creating a hazard and the officer therefore stopped the vehicle and issued the accused a second Highway Traffic Act offence, for driving at unnecessary slow speeds.
