Mischief & Theft

(RED LAKE, ON) – On July 10, Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a mischief on Main Street in Madsen within the Municipality of Red Lake. A memorial sign attached to the “Welcome to Madsen” sign had been defaced. The sign was repaired and re-attached to the welcome sign only to be stolen sometime before July 20.

On the night of July 12, unknown parties vandalized the Cochenour Community Garden, maintained by volunteers. 10 days later the planters in the same area of the Cochenour Garden and Park were overturned.

On July 23, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that fishing nets set on Coli Lake were damaged and some stolen. The nets are set and clearly marked with MNR labels and the buoys that mark them have information on them setting out the fact that it is a criminal offence to tamper with or destroy the buoys or nets.

The Red Lake OPP is seeking the public’s assistance with these criminal offences.
