(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two drivers on the weekend for alcohol related driving offences.
The first driver was stopped on Sandhills Road at approximately 3:00 am early Saturday September 24, 2016. After an investigation, the driver, 22 year old, Matthew MCCUAIG of Woodville was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 27, 2016.
The second driver was arrested early Sunday September 25, 2016 at approximately 6:50 am on Pigeon Lake Road. After an investigation, Michael MCCABE, 48 years of age of Oshawa, has been charged with the following offences:
Fail of Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CCC
Novice Driver Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to section 48.1(4) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver contrary to section 5(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario Regulation 340/94
Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to section 33(1) HTA
The accused will appear in bail court in Lindsay this morning.
