MARIHUANA SEIZED FROM VEHICLE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) -A vehicle stop recently conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in a small quantity of cannabis marihuana being seized.

On October 5, 2013 an OPP officer was patrolling on Highway 7 within the City of Kawartha Lakes when observation was made related to a vehicle driver not wearing a seat belt. As a result of this observation the officer conducted a vehicle stop. Further investigation revealed the presence of 8 grams of cannabis marihuana in the vehicle.

Marc CARKNER, 28 years of age, of Verulam Township, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). The accused was also charged with the Highway Traffic Act offence of failing to wear a seat belt.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on October 31, 2013.
