Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

On August 29, 2013, a warrant was issued as the man failed to comply with his probation order. On October 4, 2013, the man failed to attend court and another warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning, officers initiated a traffic stop on Woods Street in Chatham. The man was sitting in the front passenger seat. As the officer recognized the man, he fled the vehicle on foot carrying a black back pack. The man was taken into custody on McNaughton Avenue West. The man was searched incident to arrest and found to be in possession of marijuana.

The 45-year-old Wallaceburg man now faces an additional charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
