(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Monday, June 30, 2014 at approximately 2:38 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an injured male at a property on Irish Lake Road in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
The male, who was hired to work on a barn roof on the property, was standing on the platform at the end of a TeleHandler (Zoom Boom), above the barn roof, when the mishap occurred. The male was ejected from the platform and fell approximately 30 feet; hitting the base of the equipment after it had rolled backwards and shifted on the ground.
The 49 year old male from Grey Highlands, who suffered serious non-life threatening injuries, was taken to a local hospital and then air lifted to a hospital in London, Ontario. He remains in serious, but stable, condition.
Grey County Emergency Services assisted at the scene.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
