MALE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA AT R.I.D.E.

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 27, 2014 at approximately 5:52 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Conservation Road east of Wellington Road 38 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

At this time and location, police investigated the driver of 1999 Ford that entered into the check point and immediately detected the odour of burnt marihuana coming from inside the vehicle. The male turned over a tin containing marihuana bud to the officer.

James ASMUSSEN aged 23 of Montrose has been charged with Possession of Marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 29, 2014 to answer to the charge.
