(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently charged a male with numerous Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Criminal Code offences in regards to a traffic stop.
The charges stem from a vehicle stop which took place in the month of May 2014 where a vehicle was pulled over for speeding in the area of 26 Highway and Poplar Sideroad. The male driver identified himself with an Ontario driver’s license photo card and was processed at the road side. A few weeks later police learned that the photo card was not his own and, as such, an investigation was initiated into the matter which has now led to this male being charged.
Charged is 36 year-old Eron TUOHIMAA of Collingwood. He is facing a Criminal Code charge of personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud) and is to appear in Collingwood court on the 12th of August 2014.
He is also facing HTA charges of speeding 50 plus km/h over posted speed limit; race a motor vehicle; use other person’s license; possess more than one license and 2 counts of driving while under suspension. He is to appear in Provincial Offences Act court on the 15th of August 2014.
