(CALEDON, ON) – On October 11th, 2014 shortly after 9 pm, Community Response Unit (CRU) officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Mayfield Road east of Airport Road. Officers observed a 2000 International truck operating at a higher rate of speed than the posted limit. Officers proceeded after the vehicle and conducted a stop west of Centreville Creek Road.
Upon speaking with the lone male driver, officers detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and that he displayed further signs of intoxication. CRU officers checked the commercial driver’s daily inspection report and determined that it was incomplete.
At 9:52pm, officers gave the driver the roadside screening breath demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath which registered a fail. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.
Jugraj Singh KAMBO, 43, from Brampton was arrested and charged with Over 80 and with several Highway Traffic Act of Ontario charges.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 23, 2014.
