MALE ARRESTED AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND THE THEFT OF TWO MOTOR VEHICLES

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON)- On Saturday April 5, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted break and enter complaint on Cromarty Drive, located within Thames Centre. Upon arrival at the scene police discovered a stolen pick-up truck from the Hamilton, ON area, stuck in the ditch off the roadway. It was learned that the suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival and later committed a second break and enter at a residence on Brady Road, where the suspect stole a Toyota Camry motor vehicle. During the course of the next four hours police in both Middlesex and Oxford County responded to numerous calls from the public involving the stolen vehicle and its driver. At 12.00 p.m. the stolen Camry was located parked on Sherwood Cresent in Dorchester and the male suspect was observed fleeing from a residence. Numerous officers from the Middlesex OPP and Western Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) responded to the area where the suspect was located and arrested a short time later.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Eric-Jan KUIJVENHOVEN, age of Hamilton, ON with:

Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence as per Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC) of Canada
Two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – 354(1)(a) (CC)
Fail to Comply with Undertaking -145(3) (CC)
Driving while Disqualified – court order- 259(4) (CC)
Driving While Ability Impaired- 253(1)(a) (CC)
Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams as per Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
Two counts of Possession of a Schedule III Substance- 4(1) (CDSA)

The accused was remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room at a later date to speak to the charges.
