(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have received complaints of people walking at night with dark clothing making it hard for the motoring public to see them.
Police would like to remind the public during evening hours or in bad weather conditions to dress appropriately, making sure you are as visible as you can be. Wearing bright or reflective clothing and carrying a flashlight during certain conditions can reduce the chances of being struck by a passing vehicle.
Police would also like to remind pedestrians to walk facing oncoming traffic where sidewalks do not exist as per the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Pedestrians should give oncoming vehicles as much room as possible to go past safely.
