(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – It has been a relief to see the sun shining bright but those sunny skies are expected to change drastically over the next couple of days and Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to remind drivers that safety is paramount.
Forecasters are predicting large amounts of rainfall and mixed precipitation and all this water can reduce visibility for drivers. To maximize your visibility, the OPP encourages drivers to activate their full lighting systems. “It is just as important to be seen from behind as it is for you to see what is ahead of you and this is true regardless of the weather or time of day. Having your full lighting systems activated allows other drivers to keep a safe distance behind your vehicle and helps prevent collisions†advises Middlesex County OPP Staff Sergeant Brad THOMPSON.
With the amounts of rain and melting about to occur and temperatures hovering around the freezing point, police want to remind motorists to be on the lookout and be prepared for pooling water and icy sections on the roadways. “It all comes down to the same message. Drivers need to slow down, look ahead, leave lots of space and be prepared for changes in the road conditions†says Staff Sergeant THOMPSON.
