Town of New Tecumseth, ON)- On Sunday the 22nd of March 2015 at 4:25 p.m. several concerned citizens called police to report a red Honda Civic travelling on Highway 89 in the Town of New Tecumseth that was possibly impaired. The vehicle was dangerously driving on the road, and the driver was seen waving the middle finger out the window at several other drivers.
A senior officer with the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police located the vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 89 towards Alliston. The vehicle was observed by the officer to be swerving and crossing the centre line. A traffic stop was conducted, and the officer determined the driver 31-year old male, Leonard NOCE of Vaughan was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He was arrested at which point, he resisted and attempted to become free from the officer by turning towards him and biting his arm. The officer attempted to gain control of the male, when he then bite the officers other arm. As well the male was striking the officer in the head with a closed fist. The male was restrained and was transported to the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police detachment.
The accused was found to be in possession of 1.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and bound by a probation order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing on the 23rd of March 2015 and is charged with:
Dangerous Driving
Driving while ability impaired
Resist Peace Officer
Assault Peace Officer causing bodily harm
Refuse to provide breath sample
Possession of a drug
Breach Probation
The officer from the Nottawasaga O.P.P. received treatment for his injuries at the hospital and was released.
