Lanark County OPP Weekly News

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 272 calls for service over the past week.

Domestic Incidents

The Lanark County OPP officers investigated seven domestic related occurrences during the past week. Criminal charges resulted in two of these investigations. A male is charged with Assault and Cruelty to animals: In a separate investigation, a male and a female are charged with Assault.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

There were forty-one Motor Vehicle Collisions reported to Lanark County OPP. Eleven of these were Car-Deer Collisions and one involved personal injury.

On March 21, 2017 at approximately 5:45pm a vehicle was traveling on Coleman Street in Carleton Place when it slowed down to turn into a parking lot. The vehicle was struck from behind by a black vehicle which left the scene. The driver sustained minor injury. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lanark County OPP or Crime Stoppers.

On March 24, 2017 at approximately 9:35 pm Lanark County OPP received a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the centre median on Highway # 7 in Beckwith Township. As a result of the investigation the driver is charged with Driving while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Break and Enters

Between March 19 and March 20, 2017 a new home under construction was broken into on Peever Street in Carleton Place. Damage was caused to the exterior doors and drywall inside.

Between March 19, and March 20, 2017 a commercial property was broken into on Dufferin St in Perth. Damage was caused to the exterior door and items were disrupted inside the business.

Mischiefs / Thefts

Sometime in the overnight hours of Sunday March 19 and Monday March 20, 2017 vehicles were entered on McGregor Drive and Pine Ridge Drive in Beckwith Township. Cash and a pocket knife were reported stolen. Police received two more reports on March 23, 2017 of vehicles being entered on Lake Avenue East and Carmel Street in Carleton Place. The OPP would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles, remove any valuables and report any suspicious activity.
