LAMBTON COUNTY OPP OFFICERS RESPOND TO NUMEROUS WEATHER RELATED INCIDENTS

(LAMBTON COUNTY, ON) Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have been kept busy the last few hours responding to a number of weather related incidents. The majority of the incidents are trees and power lines that are down across roadways. Central Lambton County appears to be the hardest hit at this point. There have not been any serious injuries reported to police at this time.

If you don’t have to be anywhere, please stay home. Less traffic allows the emergency crews more time and space to clear debris and fix power lines. OPP reminds those who do have to be out on the roadways to proceed with caution. Police and emergency crews are working as fast as they can to clean up and repair damages, but you may come upon debris or power lines across the roadway that emergency crews have not yet had a chance to attend.

When you encounter a traffic signal that is not functioning, treat it as a four way stop. Please do not touch downed power lines. Report that information to your hydro service provider.

Remember to obey any road closed signs you may come upon. It is against the law to drive on a closed roadway and you never know what the danger is beyond that sign.

Please do not call 911 unless it is an emergency and you need police, fire or ambulance immediately. Also, OPP does not provide updates on weather or road conditions, so do not call us for updates. Your call may be taking a dispatcher’s time away from someone who really needs us.

It is always a good idea to stay tuned in to your local radio and social media outlets to get the latest information about conditions
