During the week of 07 December 2015 to the 13 December 2015, there were 68 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were four motor vehicle collisions, none were animal related. No reported injuries.
There were three domestic dispute calls for service during the week of 07 December 2015 – 13 December 2015. There were no criminal charges laid.
Police remind motorists to be aware of wildlife as they continue to drive on the highways. Motorists are asked to be diligent in driving the posted speed limit, and maintaining a continuous watch for wildlife especially deer.
As winter weather approaches, the OPP are also advising motorists to adjust their driving habits to the road and weather conditions to ensure safe travelling on our roadways this holiday season.
Traffic Stop Arrest
On the 08, December 2015 at 2: 28 pm, while on patrol, Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds stopped a motorist on Kokomis Inamo, Pikwàkanagàn, ON. The 29 yr. old driver Peter MACDONALD of North Algona Wilberforce Twp. was charged with driving a motor vehicle, no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. He was also arrested and charged with Breach of Probation, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.
Driver Charged at RIDE Check
On the 7 December, 2015 at 4:30 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Julie McPeak stopped a motor vehicle at a RIDE spot check on Old Barry’s Bay Road, Madawaska Valley Twp. The driver, 53 yr. old John CHEVALIER of North Algona Wilberforce Twp. was charged with using unauthorized plates, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and no insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He was issued a summons to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice. The vehicle was towed.
Killaloe OPP Festive RIDE
The Killaloe OPP Detachment reports indicate a total of 66 Festive RIDE spot checks have been conducted throughout the detachment area. To date, the Killaloe OPP report no arrests for impaired driving related to RIDE spot checks.
Theft from Shed
On the 7 December 2015 at 9:19 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Jordan Bullis investigated a Break and Enter into a shed located on Pikwàkanagàn First Nation. A chainsaw was reported stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestoppers.
