(COLLINGWOOD, ON.) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist with drinking and driving offences in Collingwood over the weekend.
On November 12 2016 shortly after 3:00am, officers were dispatched to a report of debris on the roadway in the area of Hurontario Street and Campbell Street in Collingwood. An officer who attended the area was waived down by a motorist to advise the officer of the actual location of the debris. As the officer spoke to the motorist it became evident that the driver was possibly under the influence of alcohol which led to a roadside breath test with a ‘fail’ result. The male motorist was arrested and transported to detachment for processing.
Charged is 20 year-old Justin SMITH-KANALEC of Wasaga Beach, he is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and driving while ability impaired by alcohol and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on November 29 2016.
