(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist last week as a result of a fail to remain collision in Collingwood.
On February 9, 2017 shortly after 9:00pm, officers were dispatched to the scene of a fail to remain collision involving a parked vehicle on Simcoe Street near Albert Street in the Town of Collingwood. Both involved vehicles were on scene however the driver of the pickup truck that collided with the parked vehicle had fled the scene. Investigation subsequently led to officers locating the male driver where he was charged accordingly.
Charged is 27 year-old Justin MELCHERT of Collingwood, he is facing Highway Traffic Act charges of Careless Driving, Fail to Report Accident and Fail to Remain. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 17, 2017.
