(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 9, 2014 at just before noon members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs on Wellington Road 39 near Wellington Road 30 in Guelph-Eramosa Twp.
At this time and location police spoke with the driver of a GMC pick-up truck that entered into the checkpoint and discovered that he had been drinking. He was administered a Roadside Screening Device test which resulted in a fail.
John Yates age 46 of Nichol Township has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on April 11, 2014 to answer to the charge.
The Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle impounded for seven days.
