Jason ELDER – Drunk Driving, Almost Caused Head On Collision With School Bus

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Friday, November 28, 2014 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver operating a motor vehicle southbound on Hwy. 6 & 10 in the Township of Chatsworth. Concerned citizens reported the suspect vehicle had almost caused a head on collision with a school bus and forced other vehicles off the road.

Grey County OPP stopped the suspect vehicle, a 2009 Pontiac, on Toronto Street North, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Markdale OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Jason ELDER, 25, of the Township of Southgate, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

Grey County OPP urge citizens to call police if they suspect someone is driving impaired by alcohol or drug.
