(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the driver being arrested for an alcohol related offence.
On December 29, 2014 at 1:50 p.m. an OPP officer observed a vehicle speeding on Highway 35 near Telecom Road and subsequently stopped the vehicle. During the investigation the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver registered a fail on the approved screen device and was arrested. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
James PARKER, 52 years of age, of Whitby was charged with speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act and with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on January 29, 2015.
