(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 31, 2015 at approximately 11:12 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that was initially observed in a parking lot in Rockwood then observed travelling eastbound on Highway 7, swerving and almost colliding with another vehicle.
Police stopped the motor vehicle and spoke with the driver who exhibited signs of being impaired by drug including glossy, constricted eyes, sweating, slurred speech.
The driver denied having any weapons in the motor vehicle when asked and when police conducted a search a large knife was located beside where he had been sitting.
The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
37-year-old James FOSTER of Georgetown has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drug and Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 1, 2015 to answer to the charges.
