(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is urging the public to be wary of whom you give your credit card number to after a Thames Centre resident fell victim to an internet security scam.
Police have learned on April 10, 2014 a lady was contacted by a party claiming to be from a software company selling extra internet security for a low fee. The victim provided a credit card to purchase the extra security. A short time later it was discovered that her credit card was charged almost $3,000. The victim attempted to contact the company only to find the phone number she was provided was no longer in service.
