(Municipality of Trent Lakes, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to numerous calls about an injured juvenile black bear yesterday evening in the area of Deer Bay Reach Road near the north shore of Lower Buckhorn Lake.
Police patrolled the area and were unable to locate the injured animal. The OPP remind area resident that injured wildlife can be dangerous if approached or startled. Homeowners can reduce the chances of attracting a bear to their property if they properly store or remove:
Garbage
Bird feeders
Pet good
Greasy Barbecues
All other potential food sources
