(Township of Essa and Town of New Tecumseth, ON)- On the 16th of May 2015 at 5:26 p.m. officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an impaired driver in a shopping plaza in the Township of Essa (Angus).
Officers located the male party who was impaired by alcohol, and subsequently arrested him for Driving while his ability is impaired by alcohol and Over 80mgs. 57-year old male, Edward MOSS of Essa Township is scheduled to appear in court on the 4th of June 2015 in answer to his charges.
Further, on the 18th of May 2015 at 10:30 p.m. an officer with the Nottawasaga OPP was conducting radar enforcement on the 10th Sideroad in the Town of New Tecumseth when a driver was stopped for speeding. The driver was investigated, and it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol. 56-year old Donald HICKSON of Kelowna, British Columbia was arrested and charged with over 80mgs, he scheduled to appear in court on the 4th of June 2015 in answer to his charges.
The OPP rely on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired by alcohol or other drugs and intends on driving, strongly discourage them from driving and call 9-1-1 if they insist.
