(TRENT HILLS, ON) –On July 13, 2015 at 11:46am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Concession Road 8 in Percy Township. Witnesses reported seeing a black Honda Civic in the ditch apparently attempting to drive back out onto the road. Several persons assisted the driver and eventually removed the keys from the ignition as they waited for police to arrive.
The responding officer observed the driver still seated in the vehicle in the ditch and quickly determined that he had been drinking. The man was arrested and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to minor injuries resulting from the collision.
While at the hospital, the driver refused to submit to further tests that would determine the amount of alcohol in his system. He was transported to the Campbellford detachment after receiving medical treatment and held for a bail hearing scheduled on July 14, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
Charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and Failure or Refusal to provide a breath sample is Paul BURGESS age 60 of Trent Hills.
