(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Quinte West OPP is currenty investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately noon on September 17.
A westbound tow truck red/orange in colour was towing a pickup truck believed to be gold in colour. The vehicle being towed had a door that was swinging open and closed. A cyclist that was traveling westbound along County Rd 2 near Bolton Rd was struck by the swinging door which sent the cyclist head first into the ditch. The tow truck did not stop and continued westbound towards Brighton. The cyclist was taken to Trenton Memorial Hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening.
The 59 year old Brighton male was wearing an approved helmet that was credited with reducing head trauma. The OPP would like to remind the public of the importance of wearing an approved bicycle helmet properly.
