(CALEDON, ON) On Saturday, September 14, 2013, shortly after 8 pm, a citizen contacted police to report a vehicle being operated in a field north of East Garafraxa Town Line. Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the area and located a gray Mazda 3 in the ditch on East Garafraxa Town Line and Winston Churchill Boulevard. The officers approached the female driver and immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on her breath. As a result, the female was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and placed in the rear of the police cruiser for transport to Detachment. While en route to Detachment, the female freed herself from the handcuffs and when the officers attempted to re-handcuff her, the female became combative with police and attempted to kick the officers. Officers further learned that the female was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Diana Shirley McMURRAY, 27, of Orangeville was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 mgs, Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Resist Arrest.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was held in custody and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton the following day.
