(ARCHIPELAGO TWP, ON) – On December 1, 2013 at approximately 8:08 p.m. the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a head-on collision on Highway 69, near Dumont Road in Archipelago Township. A northbound Ford Focus operated by Paul Laitila, lost control entering the southbound lane and was struck by a southbound pick-up truck.
Two occupants from a pick-up truck were transported to the West Parry Sound Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries.
Paul Laitila, 39 years of age from Brampton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Highway 69 was closed for several hours while the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators processed the scene.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
