Hawkesbury Police Press Releases

In the week of September 14th to September 21st, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 180 occurrences. One break and enter incident was reported. Four incidents of assault and eight incidents of theft were reported. In the last two weeks, officers investigated two impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 180 occurrences, 25 concluded with accusations.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(EAST-HAWKESBURY, ON) – On September 9th, shortly before 1am, Hawkesbury OPP officers were dispatched to the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 14, north of Ste-Anne-De-Prescott in East-Hawkesbury Township.

The driver had lost control of his 2014 white GMC Sierra pickup truck, struck a Hydro pole and ended up in the ditch. The driver had walked away from the scene of the collision.

Constables Marc Lauzon and Simon Boudreau investigated the incident. Attempting to locate the driver, officers attended his residence and observed firearms not properly secured.

Assisted by the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT), the driver was located in the field a few hundred meters from the collision scene.

Interaction with the driver gave the officers reason to believe that he had driven his motor vehicle with his abilities impaired by alcohol.

Consequently, the driver, Joey CARRIERE (25 yrs) of East-Hawkesbury Township, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol)

– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood.

– 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

– 86(1) Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition.

He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following section:

– 201 Fail to Report Damage to Property on Highway

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on October 7th, 2015 in L’Orignal.

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – In the night of September 19th, shortly after 1am, Hawkesbury OPP officer, Jonathan Lacelle intercepted a vehicle with its tail lights off on Cartier Boulevard in the Town of Hawkesbury.

Interaction with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had his abilities to drive a motor vehicle impaired by alcohol.

Consequently, the driver, Robert MARTIN (60 yrs) of Hawkesbury, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood.

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on October 14th, 2015 in L’Orignal.
