Hawkesbury Police Press Releases

In the week of October 19th to October 26th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 137 occurrences. One break and enter incident was reported. Three incidents of assault and nine incidents of theft were reported. In the last week, officers did not investigate any impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 137 occurrences, 18 concluded with charges.

SERIES OF MISCHIEFS AND THEFTS FROM CARS IN HAWKESBURY

CULPRIT ARRESTED

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – Thefts from vehicles were reported in Hawkesbury on October 19th and 20th. The culprit broke into vehicles taking backpacks, credit cards, tools, clothing and electronics such as GPS, car radio, cellular phone. Some vehicles were vandalized by smashing windows, tearing off plastic parts inside and by damaging key ignitions.

On Tuesday morning October 20th, Constable Pascal Boudreau investigated the incident and soon after located the suspect on Main Street in Hawkesbury.

Maxime RENAUD (28 yrs) of L’Orignal was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– 334(b) Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle (5 counts)

– 430(4) Mischief Under $ 5,000 (3 counts)

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on November 18th, 2015 in L’Orignal.

ARRESTS DURING EXECUTION OF WARRANTS

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On October 20th, 2015, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Hawkesbury Community Drug Action Team and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a Search Warrant in the town of Hawkesbury, resulting in the seizure of methamphetamine tablets.

Chantal DUPUIS (47 yrs) of Hawkesbury was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following:

– 5(2) Possession of a Schedule I (methamphetamines tablets) substance for the purpose of trafficking

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal, on December 2nd 2015.

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On September 3rd, 2015, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Hawkesbury Community Drug Action Team, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Hawkesbury Crime Unit executed a Search Warrant in the Municipality of The Nation, resulting in the seizure of cannabis marijuana and firearms.

Jean-Marie RANGER (63 yrs) and Jeanne d’Arc RANGER (61 yrs) of St-Isidore were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following:

– 5(2) Possession of a Schedule II (Cannabis marijuana) substance for the purpose of trafficking

– 7(1) Produce a Schedule II (Cannabis marijuana) substance

They were both also charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following offence:

– 86(2) Breach of firearms regulation

Both accused have appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.

SHOPLIFT

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Wednesday October 21st, the Hawkesbury OPP was called to the LCBO store on Main Street East in Hawkesbury for a shoplifting incident. A woman was caught shoplifting in the store by employees. She then ran out of the store and managed to leave with a few bottles of liquor.

The thief was captured on the surveillance cameras and is yet to be identified by police.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(NATION, ON) – The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is still investigating a single motor vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality and serious injuries last Wednesday October 21st, shortly before 7:30 pm on County Road 22 in St-Bernardin.

The motor vehicle with six occupants was travelling north on County Road 22 approaching Concession Road 8 in St-Bernardin when for reasons still being investigated, the driver lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway after a curve and entered the ditch where it subsequently rolled over. The vehicle came to final rest on its side on Concession Road 8.

Some of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle. All were transported to hospitals; two remained hospitalized for serious injuries.

One of the passengers, Frederic THERRIEN (17 yrs) of Hawkesbury, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (T.T.C.I.)

No charges have been laid at this time due to the on-going investigation.

TRAFFIC STOP REVEALS DRUGS

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – On Saturday October 24th, at approximately 1:30 pm, Constable Simon Boudreau intercepted a 2002 Nissan Altima for a traffic offence on County Road 19 in Alfred-Plantagenet.

Interaction with the driver resulted in the discovery of illicit drugs.

The driver, Miguel GAUTHIER (20 yrs) of Clarence-Rockland was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section:

– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams.

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal court on November 25th, 2015.
