(La Nation, ON) In the morning of Thursday March 20th, 2014, at approximately
10:20 am, Constable Pat Dussault of the East Region RIDE Unit was patrolling on County Road Nine in the municipality of La Nation, when he intercepted a 1998 Toyota Corolla.
The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.
During the arrest, the driver was found in possession of an opened bottle of beer which was readily available to the driver. .
Consequently, the driver Hal CLEMENS (50 yrs) of Luskville, QC, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– section 253 (1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired
– section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
Additionally, he was charged under the Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
He was later released on a promise to appear in court on April 2nd, 2014 in L’Orignal.
