- Cab driver assaulted – arrest made
On June 21, 2015 at 3:44 a.m., a Canadian Cab dropped a fare off at a residence on Harris Street. He then parked down the street to complete his log when a male approached the vehicle and punched him in the face. Police were contacted and the responsible male was arrested. The victim lost several teeth in the altercation.
Ryan Gorman, 23 years of Guelph has been charged with assault cause bodily harm. He will appear in court on August 4, 2015.
2. Break and enter – arrest
On June 20, 2015 at 2:55 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a gated construction site on Paisley Road for the report that three males were on the property. Police were able to locate one male on site and he was arrested. The two other males fled the area on foot and were not located.
Jahn Arsalan, 25 years of Guelph has been charged with break and enter with intent to commit mischief. He will appear in court on July 28, 2015.

3. Altercation at Stone Road Mall leads to three arrests
On June 21, 2015 at 2:10 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Stone Road Mall for the report of an altercation that took place outside the mall. It is alleged that three males attempted to fight a lone male and displayed a knife before walking away and going back into the mall. Security was advised and police were contacted. The three males were located in the mall and arrested.
A 19-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with obstruct police, breach of recognizance, breach of OIC undertaking and four counts of breach of probation.
An 18-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with weapons dangerous, breach of recognizance, breach YCJA probation and three counts of breach of probation.
A 21-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with weapons dangerous, obstruct police, breach of recognizance and two counts of breach of probation.
All three were held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 22, 2015.
4. Arrest on Eramosa Road
On June 20, 2015 at 12:41 a.m., the Guelph Police located a man in a parked car on Eramosa Road. Investigation determined that the man was not the owner of the vehicle and that he was in possession of property that was not his. He was arrested and a search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of Crystal Meth.
Benjamin Manhardt, 44 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance (CDSA) and breach of probation. He will appear in court on June 26, 2015.
5. Collision leads to arrest for impaired driving
On June 20, 2015 at 2:47 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a collision on Woodlawn Road West and the Hanlon Parkway. In speaking with one of the drivers it was determined that he had been drinking alcohol. A demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested
Tyler Neufeld, 23 years of Kitchener has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on July 10, 2015.
6. Drive over 80 mg – arrest
On June 20, 2014 at 11:10 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Stone Road West after observing a traffic infraction. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Cameron Barnard, 32 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with fail to stop red light and drive motor vehicle – no licence. He will appear in court on July 14, 2015.
7. Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received eleven reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Marilyn Drive, Gordon Street, Conrad Court, Henry Court, Deleware Avenue, two on Cedarvale Avenue and four on Valleyhaven Lane.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. 8. Distracted driving enforcement campaign
Distracted driving is becoming one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions on our roadways. In response to this the Ministry has introduced new legislation that will increase the penalties. Increased fines, the addition of 3 demerit points and novice driver suspensions are some of the changes included in the new legislation.
On June 18, 2015 the Guelph Police Traffic Unit conducted a distracted driving enforcement campaign. Officers issued 10 cell phone violations, 4 cell phone warnings, 3 moving violations and 3 equipment violations.
Road Safety is a priority to the Guelph Police. We will continue to conduct education and enforcement campaigns to reinforce this commitment.
