Gregory MERKLEY – 166 in a 100

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) A Kitchener man will be starting off the new year without a driver’s licence or a vehicle. On December 31, 2013, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Harwich Road.

Just before 7:30 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound Nissan vehicle that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 166 km/hr.

Gregory MERKLEY, age 25, has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
