Goslings Murdered – Trailer Park Owner Charged

(Municipality of Trent Lakes, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted an enforcement officer from Environment Canada investigating a cruelty to animals’ allegation Friday just after 10:00am.

The owner of the local trailer park became enraged with geese defecating on the grass and beach area of the park. It is alleged that he then caught and killed 6-8 goslings by breaking their necks.

Alexander SHAMISS (age 68) of Trent Lakes, Ontario is currently charged with taking migratory birds with permit under the provisions of the Migratory Birds Convention Act. OPP investigators continue to investigate and are currently looking to speak with witnesses in relation to this case.
