Good Samaritan Following Drunk Driver Helps Make Our Roads Safer – One Arrested

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 28, 2015 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint from a concerned motorist that was following a possible impaired driver. It was travelling northbound on Highway 6 towards the City of Guelph. The vehicle was described as a Toyota Corolla and was being driven erratically.

Police located the vehicle and after speaking with the driver, determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was placed under arrest.

Investigation revealed that the driver was involved in a single motor vehicle collision which damaged the front end of his motor vehicle prior to speaking with police.

The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Stephen WALMSLEY age 53 of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 17, 2015 to answer to the charges.
