(COLLINGWOOD AND THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged 4 motorists with drinking and driving related offences over the course of the last few days.
The first such occurrence took place on February 13 2016 shortly after 2:00am after officers came upon a single motor vehicle collision on Jozo Weider Boulevard where the vehicle had gone off the roadway and up on a snow bank. Upon speaking to the driver it was found that he was under the influence of alcohol which led to his arrest and transport to detachment for processing. Charged is 25 year-old Philip HAPPY of Mississauga, he is charged with driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 1 2016.
The second occurrence took place later on that same day at approximately 5:20am when an officer on patrols observed an immobilized vehicle on First Street near Pine Street blocking a lane of traffic. Upon speaking to the driver it was found that he was under the influence of alcohol where he was subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. He subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing. Charged is a 17 year-old male from Clearview Township, he is facing a charge of driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on March 7 2016.
The third occurrence took place on February 14 2016 shortly after 2:30am when officers conducted a vehicle stop on Jozo Weider Boulevard. Upon speaking to the driver, it was found that he was under the influence of alcohol which led to a roadside breath test with a ‘fail’ result. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for processing. Charged is 24 year-old James FROST of Clearview Township, he is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 3 2016.
And the fourth such occurrence took place on February 16 2016 shortly before 5:00pm when officers were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Ontario Street and Napier Street in Collingwood where car had rear ended a sport utility vehicle. Investigation found that the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol which led to his arrest and transport to Collingwood detachment for processing. Investigation also led to the seizure of a small amount of marihuana. Charged is 19 year-old Eric RANDELL of Wasaga Beach, he is facing charges of driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol, care or control over 80 milligrams, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of marihuana under 30 grams. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on March 1 2016.
