(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – On Thursday May 14, 2015 at approximately 3:05 pm, officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call on Bellwood Lake, Centre Wellington Township. Officers were called to the scene of an overturned Murphy Renegade float plane.
Donald Reid MCLEOD age 64 from the Town of Erin was the lone occupant and operator of the float plane that overturned upon landing. Mr. McLeod was brought safely to shore by a canoeist, uninjured. The plane is currently partially submerged and arrangements are being made to remove it.
Firefighters from Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue Department along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene. Transportation Canada was notified and will not be attending.
