(HALIBURTON, ON) – Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been actively conducting R.I.D.E. checks throughout Haliburton County as part of the Festive RIDE Program. After the second week of the campaign officers have conducted 42 R.I.D.E. checks, with 2010 vehicles checked; 1 driver charged with Impaired Driving; 6 roadside tests conducted and 10 Highway Traffic Act charges. There were also 2 non – R.I.D.E. related Impaired Driving charges. The Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign runs from November 23, 2013 – January 02, 2014.
On November 30 2013 OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 507 at County Road 503 in Gooderham – Municipality of Highlands East. As a result of the investigation Jacques BOLDUC, 70 years of age from Pefferlaw Ontario was charged with Impaired Driving; Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood; Driving While Disqualified and Driving While Under Suspension. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on January 08, 2014.
On December 07 2013 OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on County road 503 in the Township of Minden Hills. As a result of the investigation Johnny PEREIRA, 35 years of age from Stouffville Ontario was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marihuana. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on January 08, 2014.
On December 08 2013 OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. check at Highway 35 and Little Hawk Lake road in the Township of Algonquin Highlands. A vehicle was stopped at the check area and as a result of the investigation Michael HARRISON, 46 years of age from Algonquin Highlands Ontario was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood and Driving While Under Suspension. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on January 08, 2014.
