(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have charged a Fergus man following a two month child pornography investigation.
In November 2015, police from the Guelph Police Service – Internet Child Exploitation Unit conducted an on-line child pornography investigation. At that time, they identified a male making available child sexual abuse images via the internet. Upon further investigation, the male was believed to be residing in Fergus Ontario. The matter was turned over to the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit for investigation.
On January 25, 2016 as a result of this investigation, police officers from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, OPP Technological Crime Unit and the Central Wellington OPP Detachment executed a search warrant at a Fergus residence. As a result of this investigation, one computer device and other items pertinent to the investigation were seized containing child sexual abuse images. These items are pending forensic analysis.
71-year-old Paul Douglas CURRY of Fergus, Ontario is charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing today, January 26, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
