Fentanyl Powder Seized

(BONFIELD TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 17, 2016, members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and Crime Unit, Northeast Region Drug Enforcement Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT), with the assistance of the North Bay Police Service, executed a drug search warrant at a residence on Trunk Road, Bonfield Township.

As a result of the search, a quantity of fentanyl powder, ammunition and a stun gun were seized.

As a result of the investigation, two people were charged and arrested.

Derek HICKEY, age 25, Bonfield, Ontario, was charged with;

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Other Drugs contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

He was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on August 2, 2016.

Michael BILODEAU, age 36, Bonfield, Ontario, was charged with;

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada(CCC)

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, section 91(2) CCC

Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CCC

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario.
