(SOUTHWEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a two vehicle collision that has claimed one life this morning.
At approximately 8:45 a.m., two vehicles collided on Highway #19 (Plank Line), north of Ostrander Road, in Southwest Oxford Township. The Southwest Oxford Fire Department (Mount Elgin) attended and assisted at the scene. Vehicles involved in the collision were both SUV’s. A 19 year old, female driver was transported by Oxford EMS to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later. A female passenger in the second vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OPP advise that Highway #19 (north/south) between Ostrander Road and Airport Road, will remain closed until approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. Members from the OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators remain on scene.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Further updates will come as information is available.
